I cannot believe two things:
1. It's already July!
2. And that our new Christmas and Holiday decoration collection is already on a boat heading to us!
In our world it's Christmas all year ‘round and I am literally designing Christmas every day of the year. I never know when inspiration is going to find me. I find ideas strike me at the oddest times... often in the middle of the night or when I am driving from A to B to pick up children from some kind of practice or class. Those are the times when my mind is pretty blank and ideas just bubble up from things I have noticed or seen.
Christmas in July is always a really fun moment in time as it’s a chance to look ahead and take a peek into what the holidays will bring and maybe just start to do a TINY bit of planning and shopping!
We have tons of new ideas this year and for this Christmas in July month we are going to showcase a few here on our blog!
BRAND NEW MONOGRAM ORNAMENTS
Years ago, I found two vintage tie pins in the corner of an antique jewelry shop – a 'G' and an 'H' – which just happened to be my children's initials... serendipity?! I fell in love with the Art Deco vibe and knew I needed to add these into our collection.
I had a master typographer create an entire alphabet based on the only two letters we had. They are totally custom to Joanna Buchanan – you will not find these letters anywhere else in the world!
We wanted to make these ornaments super special. 24K gold plated, a large Swarovski crystal, and Swiss velvet ribbons – these ornaments are sure to become a treasured heirloom.
OUR PASTEL COLOUR STORY
I do love pink at Christmas and I really loved exploring and building out the colour palette in some new mediums.
For the first time, we are introducing hand blown glass into the collection. I have wanted to experiment with glass for a long time, but this year finally found the right factory to execute on my ideas.
The factory is based in Czechoslovakia and they found some of my ideas easy to execute- and some caused a real headache! They had to solicit the advice and expertise of local 'top glass blowers' and we could not be more thrilled with the results.

I have always loved coloured glass and have so much of it in our house- and I cannot wait to be able to use these ornaments on the Christmas tree this year.
