These ombre capiz shell placemats, an update on the classic blue and white, are perfect for all of your summer entertaining. I grew up in the Philippines and capiz was used in so many decorative objects. I adore the subtle luster and the way it throws colours is just stunning.

The ombre effect is created by hand piecing these delicate shells into a 'fan' pattern... this really is such a wonderful showcase of hand-crafted work. I am so excited about all of the beachy and yachty tablescapes to come!

NOT SO TRADITIONAL HOME

We were thrilled when the editors of Traditional Home popped in for lunch at my home in Connecticut, Foxglove Meadow. This quote from the article sums up why I do what I do!

“It’s been such a joy to have a garden. There’s something about connecting with the changing seasons and the natural elements in life. I get so much pleasure from watching tiny seeds grow into something beautiful. It’s a similar process when I imagine my tabletop accessories and then am able to put them to use when I entertain. It is such a great metaphor for life. There’s always something new, and tomorrow is another day. It never gets old.”
